What is Foester?

The market for social networking sites is saturated. There are well over a hundred social networking sites in existence, and there is a high incidence of antisocial behavior in these environments with a lot of people getting their feelings hurt. Clearly there is an unfilled demand for a site designed expressly for the purpose of antisocial behavior: A place where sniping and flaming is the norm; where seldom is heard an encouraging word and the skies are cloudy all day. It is toward that end that we conspired to create Foester.org. To our knowledge, this is the first site where you can keep track of your foes instead of your friends.

• Thomas Jones said "Friends may come and go, but enemies accumulate". Now with Foester they can accumulate in one convenient location.
• John Fitzgerald Kennedy said "Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names" and now with Foester you don't have to. All your foes can accumulate in one place, and you never have to worry about forgetting another name.

Foester features:

- A list of your foes sorted into two categories:

• Unilateral foes: ones that you have declared to be your foes, but have not yet declared their enmity to you.
• Mutual foes: ones that you have declared as your foes, and who have declared you as their foes.

- The ability to forgive your foes - in effect removing them from your list of foes.

- Message Center where you can send threatening messages to your foes

• Messages can only be posted or viewed while logged in.
• To prevent spamming, there is no CC capability
• A list of messages sent
• A list of messages received

How do I join?

• Click the Sign Up link, and enter the required information
• After you provide the required information a confirmation email is sent to your email address
• You cannot log in until you have obtained the validation string from the confirmation email and either clicked the URL in the email, or entered the validation string at the website

Mutual - Links to Manage Your Foes page with up to 36 mutual foes displayed per page Inbox - Links to a page that lists the HateMail that you have received Send - Links to a page where you can compose a HateMail message Sent - Links to a page that lists the HateMail that you have sent Post A New Rant - Links to a page where you can post a rant to your own page or to a foe's (depending on whose page you were on when you clicked the link). eFights - Links to the eFights page where you can send invitations to multiple foes. Rants - Links to the Rant page, which contains the same rants that appear at the bottom of your Home page

	Edit Your Foefile page contains Edit buttons for each of four categories - TV Shows - Music - Books - Movies Upon clicking one of the Edit buttons, you are presented with a text area along with the following buttons - Preview button that allows you to view the entered text - Post button that updates your Foefile with the new text
	eFights page 1: Contains a list of all the eFights you have received Contains a link to page 2 where you can create an eFight
	eFights page 2: Contains input forms where you can enter: - The name of the person or persons who is hosting the event - The title of the event - The location of the event - A description of the event Contains drop-down menus for specifying: - The date of the event - The time of the event Contains Send button that links to page 3 where you actually invite foes
	eFights page 3: Contains a drop-down menu with all your foes Contains a Submit button that adds the selected foe to the invitation When done adding foes to the invitation, you select Done from list, and click Submit
	Foefile (profile) page contains personal information and a photo Displays up to 16 of your foes at one time, with links to each of their Foefile pages Contains the following links: - Add me as a foe - Allows you to add that person to their list of foes - Send me hate mail - Links directly to the HateMail composition page, with the recipient field already populated. - View All - Links to Foe page that lists up to 36 of your foes per page - Add an insult - Gives users the ability to post insults to the Foefile page of their foes One of only five pages that are visible without logging into the site
	Foes page Displays up to 36 foes per page with links to each foe's Foefile page Contains a Mutual link that updates the page to just display mutual foes. Mutual foes are foes who, in addition to having been added to the your list of foes - have reciprocated by adding you to their list. Conatains an All link that updates the page to show both mutual foes and unilateral foes. Unilateral foes are ones that have been added to your list, but have not reciprocated by adding you to their own list of foes.
	HateMail Inbox page contains a list of all the HateMail that you have received, including: The name and picture of the foe that sent it The subject line of the HateMail A link to the body of the HateMail A link to the HateMail Sent messages page
	Compose a HateMail messages page contains: A list of all your foes, from which you can select a recipient A text field where you can enter an email address (particularly useful if you want to send HateMail to an unregistered user) A text field for entering the subject of the HateMail A text field for entering the body of the HateMail
	Sent messages page contains a list of all the HateMail that you have sent, including: The name and of the foe that received it. The subject line of the HateMail A link to the body of the HateMail A link to the HateMail Inbox page
	Manage Your Foes page displays up to 36 foes per page with the following links: A link to each foe's Foefile page A forgive link that allows you to remove individuals from your list of foes. Contains the following links: Mutual - Updates the page to just display mutual foes. Mutual foes are foes who, in addition to having been added to your list of foes - have reciprocated by adding you to their list. All - Updates the page to show both mutual foes and unilateral foes. Unilateral foes are ones that have been added to your list, but have not reciprocated by adding you to their own list of foes.
	Post A New Rant page: Contains a text input field where you enter the subject of your rant Contains a text input field where you enter the body of your rant Contains a Preview button where you can view what the rant will look like without actually saving it to the database Contains a Post button that stores the rant to the database so that it will appear on your Home pages and your foes.
	Privacy Policy page: One of only six pages that are visible without logging into the site Spells out the privacy policy of Foester
	Rant page: From your Home page or from the Rant page, when you click the subject line of a rant, you are taken to the Rant page Contains the text of the rant, as well as the subject and date-timestamp Contains the foeto of the poster, along with a link back to their Foefile page. Contains a Reply to Ranter button that links directly to a HateMail composition page, with the recipient field already populated.
	Search page: Contains a drop-down menu where you can specify whether to search by name, screen name, or email address Contains an input form where you enter the information for the user you're trying to locate Contains a Search button that initiates the search If one or more matches are found in the database, a table is populated with their: - Name - Age - Gender - Foeto - Link to their Foefile page One of only five pages that is accessible without logging into the site
	Terms of Abuse page: One of only five pages that are visible without logging into the site Spells out the terms of use on Foester
	Upload your foeto page: Contains a text input field and a Browse button where you can specify a path to the JPEG image you wish to upload Contains an Upload button If you specify a valid path to a JPEG image, and clicks Upload, three images are stored on the site, and references to the images are stored in the db_media table - Full-size image (up to 1 megabyte) - Thumbnail sized image. This is the image that accompanies HateMail and rants, and appears on your FoeLists - Image with a maximum dimension of 180 pixels. This is the image that appears on your Home page and Foefile page. NOTE: Aspect ratio is retained. If image is not square, the larger of the two dimensions is resized to 180 pixels, with the other dimension being resized proportionately.
